Father Roshan D’Souza

Roshan D’Souza was born on Feb 26, 1980 at Fajir, part of the Diocese of Mangalore in Karnataka, Southern India.   His mother, Louiza D’Souza and father, the late Francis Xavier D’Souza, were blessed with seven boys and one girl, among whom he is the youngest. He has two other brother priests belonging to the same Indian Province of Discalced Carmelites.

With an ardent desire to be a Carmelite Priest, soon after grade ten, he joined the Discalced Carmelite Order on June 15, 1995 at Mapusa, Goa. Having received four years of fruitful seminarian training, he made his First Religious Profession on Dec 14, 1999 at the Carmelite Monastery in Margao.   He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Karnataka State Open University, and Bachelor of Philosophy from Pushpashrama Institute of Philosophy and Religion, Mysore.  He did his theological studies at St. Joseph’s Inter-Diocesan Seminary, Mangalore, and received a Bachelor of Theology.   His Solemn Profession was on May 27, 2007 and he was ordained to the priesthood on May 6, 2008 at Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill, Mangalore.

As an ordained Carmelite Priest, he served as Director of Seminary Students from 2008-2011, and thereafter pursued his Licentiate in Biblical Theology at St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute, also serving as Associate Pastor at St. John the Baptist Parish, Bangalore, from 2011-2013. He also served as an Associate Pastor at St. Joseph’s Parish, Mumbai, from 2013-2015. Having such a profound pastoral experience of serving the Church in India, he accepted his new mission to serve the Church in Canada with his new assignment on November 23, 2015 as the Associate Pastor at St. Aloysius Parish, Kitchener, Ontario.
